EXAMINATION OF THE UK's 8TH REPORT AND COUNTRY SITUATION

Updated: Dec 7, 2024

During the 140th Session of the Human Rights Committee on 13 March 2024, an unprecedented event occurred when Mr. Rodrigo A. Carazo, a Committee member, was prevented from addressing the UK delegation regarding the cases of Julian Assange and Craig Murray. Carazo sought to raise concerns over Assange’s arbitrary detention, Murray’s investigation under the UK Terrorism Act, and broader issues like the situation in Gaza and the UK’s role in arms exports. Despite being listed as a speaker, he was denied the opportunity to speak, leading to his protest during the session. Carazo expressed his frustration, emphasizing his commitment to advocating for these critical human rights issues.
