Justice pour Tous Internationale (JPTi) successfully facilitated the participation of Scottish civil society representatives at the United Nations Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization Committee), held at the UN Headquarters in New York from 5 to 13 October 2025.
As part of this initiative, JPTi organized and led a delegation composed of Ambassador Craig Murray and Professor Alfred J. Baird, representing Liberation Scotland and Salvo, in partnership with the International Pro Bono Legal Services Association (IPLSA). The delegation took part in the Committee’s deliberations on decolonization, where Scotland’s case for self-determination was presented within the broader UN framework addressing Non-Self-Governing Territories (NSGTs).
JPTi’s team, led by Sharof Azizov (Executive Director) and Matilde Pacheco (Human Rights Officer), coordinated all diplomatic, procedural, and institutional aspects of the mission. Through these efforts, Liberation Scotland and Salvo gained direct exposure to the UN system, engaged with diplomats and officials, and strengthened their capacity for sustained advocacy within international forums.
This activity reflects JPTi’s continued commitment to advancing justice, equality, and self-determination through international law. It also demonstrates our organization’s expanding role in supporting civil society actors to navigate complex UN mechanisms and to contribute effectively to global discussions on decolonization and human rights.
