Justice pour Tous Internationale (JPTi) has today issued a formal press release following the international conference “Next Steps for Scottish Sovereignty”, held from 16 to 18 May 2025 in Dunfermline. Acting as legal counsel to Liberation Scotland, JPTi has submitted a follow-up legal communication to the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization (C-24), reinforcing the legal case for Scotland’s inclusion on the list of Non-Self-Governing Territories (NSGTs).
The press release reaffirms that Scotland satisfies all the criteria established under UN General Assembly Resolutions 1514 (XV) and 1541 (XV)—including its distinct national identity, continuing external governance, and lack of full sovereignty in critical domains such as defence, foreign policy, broadcasting, justice, and monetary policy.
The conference, convened by the Scottish Sovereignty Research Group (SSRG), included a high-level panel on Decolonisation and Self-Determination, featuring expert interventions by Professor Robert Black KC FRSE, Professor Alf Baird, Ambassador Craig Murray, Sara Salyers, and Sharof Azizov on behalf of JPTi. The event was described by national media as having “exploded a legal bombshell” regarding the UK-Scotland union.
